White-throated Sparrow: common suburban resident
Rich Patterson notes the White-throated Sparrow is a familiar suburban bird easy to identify by a yellow facial patch and white throat. It frequents backyards and feeders for seeds and insects, with the distinctive old Sam Peabody Peabody call. Migration is northward in summer and southward in winter, with year-round presence along the Atlantic seaboard and some Iowa winters.
