Divorce Granted After Wife Hated Dogs in Des Moines
Odie W. Spainhower 51, a well known dog kennel operator, won a divorce from Nora Alice Spainhower 46 in district court. The wife did not contest. Married in 1921 they had no children. He said pets around his business of about 70 dogs bothered her.

Ohio Tornado Injures 12 in Findlay Trailer Camp
A tornado plowed through a Findlay trailer camp, injuring 12 people with four serious as 42 wheeled homes were destroyed. The twister, aided by a heavy hail storm, struck at 3 p.m. CST from the southwest, cutting power to about half the city. Trees toppled and roofs peeled away.

Ford Kessler of Iowa City filed suit in Washington district court Tuesday against Riverside farmer Raymond Stranksy charging alienation of his wife's affections. Kessler is asking $25000. He was married in Muscatine in January of 1946.

Extension Division Elevated. Mahan Named Dean
The state board of education elevated the University of Iowa extension division to college status and named Prof. Bruce E. Mahan as dean. Mahan has led the extension division since 1929 and served as alumni service director and executive secretary since 1935, with a 1923 start as history lecturer and associate editor of the State Historical Society. He was president of the National University Extension Association in 1938–39.
