A scientific standpoint answers moral questions but not all decisions. A Chicago study of 1,300 couples shows one year or less courtships, if married, end unhappily about 20 percent more than two to three years. Shorter courtships yield higher unhappiness than longer ones. Nine tenths of life problems remain the same as two thousand years ago, such as getting along with others and loving truth and beauty.
