Linn County and Iowa DNR removal project near Coggon has shaved almost 3 feet off the Buffalo Creek Dam with plans to drop up to 7 more feet over three to five years. The $700000 project will replace the low head dam with rock arch rapids to improve safety and reopen the waterway for kayakers and fish.

Cedar Rapids Approves Study For 32 Million Grand Living Center
Cedar Rapids City Council backs exploring a 50 percent four year tax abatement for the 164 unit Grand Living senior center on Collins Road SE. The plan includes a 85 full time staff, dining, wellness, theater, and art spaces on 14.5 acres owned by Indian Creek Nature Center with a protected tree easement. City will form Urban Renewal Area and report back by May 24 with two to three month construction start target.
