Branstad Brother Fined for Environmental Violations in Iowa
Monroe Branstad of Forest City faced 17000 in fines from Hancock County District Court for March 2007 and August 2008 environmental violations. The 2007 fines included 4500 for solid waste and open burning, with 2295 interest added. The 2008 penalties totaled 10205 after water from a containment basin polluted the Winnebago River killing thousands of fish over 16 miles. The decree notes violations were unintentional and Monroe Branstad declined further comment.
