Cedar Rapids Briefs Include Pedestrian Crash and Robbery
Leg sales to a 24 year old man ended with a broken leg after a collision with a pickup on Collins Road near Lindale Mall. The driver, 66 year old Alex Achenbach, was turning into Lindale Mall and did not see the pedestrian crossing illegally. The pedestrian was taken to St Luke's Hospital as police cited him for crossing outside a crosswalk. Police also report a pizza delivery driver was robbed at Coe College after an argument over payment. A separate case notes a man firing a handgun outside his home and later being released on recognizance. The Iowa Budget Cut Bake Sale by the University of Iowa Faculty Senate raised 720 to offset 38 million in state budget cuts, with nearly 200 attendees.
