Council Airs Air Conditioning Conflicts in Iowa
In Des Moines the Iowa Executive Council defers approval of air conditioner requests for the old state building housing the commerce commission. The High way Commission earlier bought about 240 units, while a tax official asked to buy office fans. The dispute mirrors broader discontent as civil service reform stalls in the legislature, despite support from the State Employees Association and Herschel Loveless.
