Washington OKs Highway 22 changes near Riverside
The Washington County Board of Supervisors approved road improvements on Highway 22 from Riverside to Sand Road, Johnson County, pending Riverside city and Iowa DOT approval. An east edge entrance from 115th Street would be paved by the county at about 25000 dollars. no start date set. The DOT seeks rights of way to spur area development and further commercial building tied to the Riverside Casino & Golf Resort opening in August.

Johnson County Court Records Highlight Domestic and Drunk Driving Sanctions
In Johnson County District Court, Wallace N. Galbreath of Coralville was convicted of domestic abuse assault with 180 days jail, 30 suspended, two years probation, and a $250 fine for an April 25 incident. Yvonne Frye of Iowa City pleaded guilty to assault causing bodily injury with a $250 fine for an April 14 incident. Charles Evans of Coralville pleaded guilty to assault causing bodily injury with deferred judgment and one year probation after a March 29 incident. Richard Northam of Iowa City pleaded guilty to a reduced first offense drunken driving. one year jail with seven days suspended and two years probation, $500 fine. David Schuppert of Iowa City received two days in jail and $1,000 fine for a June 23 arrest. David Johnson Jr. of Iowa City was sentenced to 30 days jail with 30 days credit, $250 fine, plus 14 days for a no-contact-order violation. John Betofe of Iowa City pleaded guilty to first-offense drunken driving for a May 20 arrest. Derrick Foster of Iowa City was fined $1,000 and given two days in jail for an April 13 arrest.
