Louis Wingate Makes Friends with Italian Schoolchildren
Pfc. Louis Wingate of Maryland, off duty with the Fifth Army in Italy, visits schools to aid children and learn about Italy. He recalls candy gifts to Naples students and a Corbara classroom where he praised the teacher and plans future donations. Wingate says the act reflects democracy in action and notes he hopes future generations remember these efforts.

Americans Develop Gas Tank Incendiary Bomb For Aircraft
In New Guinea the U S Army Air Forces report a new gasoline filled belly tank bomb with end fuses used against Japanese positions. The device sprays flaming gasoline over targets and outperforms magnesium incendiaries. Origin traced to Kittyhawk pilots who dropped tanks on the Wairope bridge and set the area afire, leading to U S production.
