Father sentenced to 10 years for injuring infant son

Ryan Beattie of Cedar Rapids received a 10 year prison term after pleading guilty to three felony counts of child endangerment causing bodily injury and a misdemeanor assault in the abuse of his six week old son. The victim's mother Cherish Litz spoke of the infant's eight fractures and the lasting impact as Beattie apologized in court.

Firearm Found In Carry-On At Eastern Iowa Airport

TSA found a loaded .38 Smith & Wesson with five bullets in a passenger’s carry-on at The Eastern Iowa Airport in Cedar Rapids. Airport officials seized the weapon after interviewing the passenger. there was no malicious intent and the traveler continued with their flight.

Iowa City man faces charges over meth lab in backpack

Iowa City police found Nicholas Rotter, 32, with an active one pot meth lab and 5 grams of meth in his backpack near Sheridan Avenue and Maggard Street.
