Iowa homes to be renamed State Resource Center for disability services
Iowa's Glenwood and Woodward state run homes for the mentally disabled will become State Resource Center on July 1 to reflect expanded services. The facilities provide autism work, in home therapy, respite care, consults, and community living supervision with 710 beds combined.

The two facilities provide residential ICF/MR care plus evaluation, therapy, assistive tech, family support, and outreach. In FY1999 they served 700 ICF/MR residents, 75 respite, 32 community living participants, 42 in supported employment, 247 in outreach, 18 family services, and 33 time-limited assessments, with 68 diagnostic evaluations.

Humane Society Uses Internet to Find Homes for Pets
Muscatine Humane Society bought a computer in January and lists pets on Petfinder.org to reach buyers in Texas and Connecticut. Since then six animals have found homes online, including Ben the Great Pyrenees adopted by David and Ann Goodrich of Dallas, who paid about $600 for travel. Maizey the yellow Labrador was connected to Ashford, Connecticut, with volunteers transporting her to Kansas City and then to Ashford for pickup by Keith Busque.
