Civil rights executive warns on enforcement amid staff cuts
Floyd A. Jones, new Cedar Rapids Civil Rights Commission head, says Reagan era cuts in civil rights staff could lead to weaker enforcement and more voluntary compliance. He notes fewer investigators may embolden employers to violate rights in housing education credit and employment while pledging community outreach and mediation. His background includes Kansas civil rights work and corrections, shaping a two fold agency role.
