A 4-year-old girl Cindy Franks was found wandering in a basement apartment and placed in a foster home while a custody hearing is prepared. Neighbors called police after the child said she had bread to eat. the mother Rosalie Franks reportedly was not at the home. Juvenile officers said health authorities will review the apartment.

Mary Katherine Uthoff infant daughter of Mr and Mrs Orville Uthoff of 2463 Deborah Drive SW died Thursday morning. She is survived by two brothers Vincent and Steven and grandparents Mr and Mrs John Pavek of Palo and Mrs Libbie Uthoff of Cedar Rapids.
