A 65 year old Wellman man Merlyn Yoder died at the scene after being struck and run over by a chemical sprayer in a Johnson County farming accident at 4737 Blackhawk Ave SW. Deputies and emergency personnel responded at 1 14 p m. The sheriff's office is investigating.
Cedar Rapids council approves a 2.67 million road project to convert Oakland Road from one way to two way and resurface Center Point Road NE. The plan includes future two way conversions downtown and on Center Point through 2020, with bids pending and potential additional work including water main upgrades and sidewalk filling.
Tyler Koehler of Monona pleaded guilty to attempting to rob Freedom Bank in Monona on June 9. He passed notes at the drive up window threatening to blow up the bank and to obtain 100000 dollars. He was sentenced by US District Senior Judge Linda Reade to three years in prison with three years of supervised release.
Federal and county records show multiple April arrests in Linn and Cedar Rapids involving charged individuals from Robins Cedar Rapids and Altoona. Authorities list alleged offenses as accusations with innocence until proven guilty.
