In a Sunday Big Ten clash at Pearl Field Iowa fell 3-2 as Penn State rallied to win. Iowa finishes 27-24 overall and 9-11 in league play while Penn State ends 25-22-1 with an 8-8-1 conference mark.
Dallas dominates Los Angeles 122 to 86 in Dallas to complete a second round series sweep. Jason Terry ties an NBA postseason record with nine three-pointers while the Mavericks match a playoff mark with 20 threes. Lakers veterans struggle as Kobe Bryant and Phil Jackson exit early.
Lucas Glover capped a risk filled final round with a 69 and defeated Jonathan Byrd in a playoff to win the Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow. Byrd bogeyed the final hazard chip, Glover buried a 4 foot putt short of the hole and then clinched with a 25 foot second putt. This marked Glover’s third career victory and first title from the 60s all four rounds. Rory Sabbatini finished third at 14 under, Zach Johnson tied sixth at 11 under. Tom Lehman won the Regions Tradition on the Champions Tour in a playoff over Peter Senior at Shoal Creek.
Cedar Rapids Kernels newcomer Daniel Eichelberger, in his first Midwest League start, goes 3-for-4 with a walk, two doubles, three runs and three RBIs as the Kernels beat Beloit 9-2. The win improves Cedar Rapids to 15-4 in 19 games, and the outfielder hopes the strong showing means a longer stay.
Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick clashed after a late wreck at Darlington Raceway during the Southern 500. Harvick approached Busch's window and a driverless car incident followed, ending with both in the NASCAR hauler. Regan Smith won the race amid the chaos.
