Wrong-way crashes prompt I 380 upgrades plan
The Gazette reports Cedar Rapids and Iowa City interchanges will receive improvements after two wrong-way driving incidents on I 380. Investigators say a Cedar Rapids crash killed one and injured three after a southbound entry from 29th Street NE. The driver, Tyler S. Lee, 34, of Rockton Illinois, had a blood alcohol level over twice the legal limit. A second incident near Highway 30 involved Malik Mitchell Preston, 23, also suspected of DUI. Traffic engineer Willy Sorenson notes wrong-way events occur more often than realized.
