Branstad signs tax relief and official pay raises in Iowa
Gov. Terry Branstad signed into law a 35.5 million property tax relief package and a 58 million salary plan for state officials. The tax relief targets farm credits and mental health funding while the pay raises lift governor and other statewide offices by about 6.5 percent. A legislative study panel will develop a funding formula for mental health costs. Branstad also vetoed three bills and faced a 30 day deadline to act on 1990 session measures.
