Cedar Rapids man found guilty of first degree murder
Curtis Padgett, 42, was found guilty of first degree murder in the May 11 2007 killing of Dennis First 64 in his Cedar Rapids Hawthorne Hills apartment. Judge Ian Thornhill called the scientific evidence strong including Padgett fingerprint on a knife sharpener and a boot print in a blood droplet.

Campuses Propose Modest Tuition Increases Across Iowa Universities
Vanessa Miller reports that the Iowa Board of Regents may raise resident undergraduate tuition next fall by 3 percent at the University of Iowa and Iowa State University and 2 percent at the University of Northern Iowa. The changes align with a larger state appropriation plan, with final approval expected in June. If enacted, tuition would run to 270 dollars at ISU and UI and 168 dollars at UNI for the 2025 academic year, contingent on Gov. Reynolds signing the budget bill.

Reynolds moves to sue over Title IX protections
