Mom plans intoxication defense in baby's death
A northern Iowa mother and her husband face first degree murder and child endangerment charges after their 4 month old son Sterling Koehn was found dead in a mechanical swing. Prosecutors say the homicide was due to failure to provide critical care while authorities note maggots on the infant. Defense may include diminished responsibility and an intoxication claim with a psychologist from Ames as witness. Trials are set for June 11 with a venue change granted earlier due to media coverage.
