Residents Flooded Streets Demand Answers After Hiawatha Rain

Hiawatha residents voiced complaints at a City Council meeting after Wednesday night rainfall officially reported as about three tenths of an inch. Basements flooded, streets washed, and a drowned car at 12th Avenue and Raney Street were noted while officials investigated sewer and storm drain causes. In Cedar Rapids a lift station failure from lightning flooded 30 to 40 Cedar Hills basements. Marion saw no similar incidents.

West named to fill vacancy on Hiawatha City Council
