Des Moines Tower Protest Ends With 48 Hours Up High
Larry Wiese, a bearded former paratrooper, climbed a 705 foot KRNT tower to protest the removal of his three children to a juvenile home. After pleas from his wife Wyomma and Des Moines Mayor Richard Olson, he descended on Sunday night. Police said no charges would be filed and authorities planned a meeting to discuss the family’s case.
