Height rule sparks Cedar Rapids police tenure debate
Police argue height is an arrest aid, noting respect for law has waned and officers rely more on physical stature. Cedar Rapids focuses on a 5-9 minimum height and 150 pound weight standard. Charles Mullinex says the matter rests with the retirement board and medical advisers. The woman tested for a police job has completed the written exam with hiring not yet decided due to the height issue.
