Bids for the Starry school addition exceeded the 154000 bond level. the board instructed architects to negotiate with the low bidders to cut costs and report at a future meeting. The board adopted a 154000 bond resolution and heard lunch fund figures showing 39069 spent through April 1 1965 with 3393 remaining. Also approved new staff for 1965 66, tuition for a Cedar Rapids special class, and a new 54 passenger bus.

Prisoner Squeezes Out of Jail Recaptured Hours Later
Robert William Gordells, a 20 year old Kansas City rider, escaped Fayette county jail by squeezing through an 8 by 30 inch food door opening. He was recaptured near Guttenberg after several hours. Gordells and a woman were arrested last week for burglary involving jewels from an Oelwein house. Authorities said they traveled by freight train. The woman was returned to Denver, Colorado.
