Rodney Dee Brodie, 3, near death from a brain hemorrhage after the historic separation of his Siamese twin Roger Lee, who died 34 days after the operation. Rodney Dee has been in a coma since Friday morning as doctors failed to stop the bleeding.
Two Cedar Rapids youths Alvin Lee Wilcox 23 and Arthur James Ellis 19 were thrown from a car that failed to navigate a right angle curve on highway 151 near Dubuque. Both were unconscious and in serious condition at Mercy hospital with Ellis suffering a brain concussion and hip paralysis.
CORONADO Calif Friday night undersecretary Thomas S Gates Jr told the Navy League that married men make better sailors. He said the navy has found married men more efficient and responsible and stressed the role of wives in attracting outstanding recruits. He urged greater consideration and support for Navy wives.

The Red Cross said a simplified faster system would start May 15, with two kinds of parcels: family-made gifts and Tokyo Red Cross relief parcels routed through Hong Kong.
Barbara Blake a 17 year old high school pupil in Charlotte called Ernest Hemingway at his Havana home for help with an English theme. A secretary arranged a return call and Hemingway spoke with her the next day. He advised judging her theme real hard noting he cuts out the junk.
In Nottingham England a band of angry bus passengers reports the driver and conductor parked the bus and walked away. The company says the workers went home without awaiting replacements in protest of a new schedule that delayed replacements.
Lyda Bunker Hunt, 66, wife of Dallas oilman H. L. Hunt, died Friday night after a stroke. She had been flown to Rochester from Dallas for treatment earlier in the week.
Violent thunderstorms rolled across Iowa Friday night with damaging winds battering Des Moines and Harlan. Hail was reported in several northeastern towns while the day’s high reached 94 in Council Bluffs. No serious injuries were reported though property damage occurred. City rainfall figures include Cedar Rapids 0.09, Burlington 0.35, Davenport 0.07, Ottumwa 0.40 inches with Spencer and Council Bluffs reporting none.

A series of sharp earthquakes shook Lake county regions with four distinct shocks starting at 1 a.m. at Clear Lake Highlands. No injuries or major damage reported though shelves toppled and glasses broke. another quake struck Lakeport at 8:10 a.m., knocking goods from store shelves.
