California Fall Fashions Mix Demure and Daring
California designers opened fall collections in art gallery settings with paintings and sculptures as backdrops. Michael Novarese showcased a gallery collection with an Edwardian inspired look featuring high necklines, lace, taffeta skirts, braids and capes alongside bold disco inspired sequined dresses. Hemlines hovered near the knee as wide cuffs and scapular sleeves gave a tailored silhouette while color stayed subdued in black, platinum and gray.
