Kernels Return Sparks Opening Day Win Over Peoria
Cedar Rapids exploded for seven runs in four innings led by a three run first against Peoria pitcher Ian Bedell on his pro debut. Jair Camargo delivered a two run double and Gabe Snyder added an RBI triple as the Kernels, with seven hits and eight walks, defeated Peoria in a clean defensive showing. Spencer Steer and Gabriel Maciel executed a double steal for a third inning run. Kody Funderburk Cabezas and Melvi Acosta combined on a three hitter with Cabezas earning the win. The team noted the long layoff from pandemic and derecho and looked sharp in front of fans.
