Kilauea erupts forcing Hawaii residents to flee
A series of Friday earthquakes on Hawaii Island including a 5.8 magnitude tremor near Leilani Estates prompted evacuations for about 1,700 residents in Leilani Estates and Lanipuna Gardens. Lava eruptions and new fissures worsened the threat with sulfur dioxide warnings issued. No injuries or deaths were reported.

Kansas man is sentenced to life for bar murder in US
Adam W. Purinton, an Olathe Kansas man, received three consecutive life terms for first degree murder and two counts of attempted first degree murder in the 2017 shooting at Austins Bar & Grill in Clatha. The victims included Srinivas Kuchibhotla and Alok Madasani. The court docket set parole in 930 months. Sunayana Dumala, Kuchibhotta’s widow, spoke in court about her husband’s character. The victims worked at Garmin International, Cedar Rapids, before moving to Kansas City.
