Postville raid survivors return to similar meatpacking work
Vega Nava and Rosa Zamora, among 389 arrested on May 12, 2008, were deported after the agriprocessors raid in Postville. Both returned to work at Agri Star Meat and Poultry and rebuilt lives with support from church and community. Zamora received a U Visa in 2010 to bring back her husband. Vega Nava remained in the United States with her family. Lopez Vega, now a high school senior, plans to study political science at the University of Iowa and honors his mother’s sacrifice.
