April delays loom as Swenka backs May planting
Steve Swenka of near Tiffin says April planting is risky due to cold damp soil which crusts and harms germination. He farms 120 acres of corn and 100 acres of soybeans plus oats and hay, using a 35 year old John Deere 3020. He advocates Bt corn for 80 percent of corn, while reserving 20 percent non Bt to slow pest adaptation.
