North Liberty park land bond fails again in vote
The 125000 bond for 30 acres of land for a municipal park drew only 41 percent approval in North Liberty, Johnson County, with 213 against and 148 for. Mayor Dave Roberts called the result disappointing as opponents cited tough economic times and urged focusing on street repairs. If approved, the city would have leased 20 acres to farmers to cover bond payments and used 10 acres for a regulation baseball diamond.
