Five wild dogs surrounded 49-year-old John Fay three miles north of Anamosa while he investigated barking. The pack led by a large dog with elk hound features lunged and snarled for several minutes, prompting concerns of attacks and prompting neighbors to monitor children.

Four men are accused of selling more than $35,000 worth of stolen textbooks to a college bookstore over 82 transactions in 29 months. Two Iowa City men admit making many transactions at Iowa Book on Clinton Street between October 2002 and February 15. Lucas E. Othmer and Matthew R. Price face first and second degree theft charges respectively and were released on recognizance after initial court appearances.
Ohio lawmaker State Rep. Michael DeBose proposes pink license plates for serious sex offenders to help parents identify at risk individuals near schools. The plan includes a five year good behavior path to a generic tag, and follows debates over harsher penalties for child killers.
