Trail proposed from Linn to Evansdale through several towns
The proposed recreation trail would run from Linn County through Urbana, Brandon, La Porte City, Gilbertville, to Evansdale in Black Hawk County, linking two major cities. Controversy has persisted for five years with farmers and some legislators opposing rail corridor conversion to a trail and favoring pipeline or farming use. Local boards weigh ownership, with Black Hawk County Conservation Board eyed for the north half but landowner concerns blocked its takeover.
