Iowa Premium boosts Black Angus market in Tama area

The Iowa Premium beef plant near Tama opened in 2014 after a 40 million renovation designed by Temple Grandin. It processes about 1,100 head daily for upper two thirds choice beef and expands market access for about 1,400 Midwest producers while highlighting consumer demand for different beef profiles. Red Angus markets remain limited though some benefit from improved Black Angus prices. The plant employs over 800 people and plans European market outreach after China certification.
