Suspect nabbed after Cedar Rapids bank robbery
Cedar Rapids police charged 24 year old Jacob Allen Mack after he was captured in the Hills Bank and Trust Co robbery on Third Ave SE. He fled east from the bank and was caught in a parking lot behind Hall’s Bicycle Co with help from witnesses. He faces second degree robbery and interference with official acts. The week also saw two other U S Bank robberies under police review.

Marion man gets 35 year sentence for child sex abuse
A 45 year old Marion man James Olds was sentenced to 35 years in prison after being convicted on seven counts including second degree sexual abuse and exploitation of a minor. The crimes involve abuse of a girl between 2008 and 2010 when she was 3 to 5 years old. The judge ran six charges concurrently and revoked probation on a forgery conviction. Olds will serve 17.5 years before parole eligibility. A separate third degree case goes to trial July 7.

Man accused of trying to disarm officer in Iowa City
Steven B. Willard 50 of Iowa City is charged after leaving a hospital campus and attempting to disarm a University of Iowa police officer. He allegedly pushed the officer and reached for the weapon as an off duty officer and a civilian helped take him down. He faces charges of interference with official acts while attempting to use a dangerous weapon disarming a peace officer and assault causing injury to a peace officer. In a separate case Robert D. Juhl 33 is charged with three counts of second degree burglary for breaking into Iowa City Tire with Trisha M. Stokes 32 who allegedly drove him and opened a back door to load tires. Both face multiple burglary counts.
