The 48 year old suspect, known for prior bank robberies, escaped Minnehaha County Jail using a hacksaw and bedsheets. Officers connected Flowers to multiple prior bank crimes and described him as dangerous with a firearms history. If you have information call the FBI Cedar Rapids or Omaha offices.

Cedar Rapids will pause pursuing Vision Iowa VIP funds for an amphitheater project to focus on improving the plan. Dan Baldwin of the National Czech and Slovak Museum & Library may lead the effort, with emphasis on Czech heritage and brownfield reuse near the Czech Village and brownfields area. The city risks losing VIP support if funds aren’t available later, but officials stress a visionary approach and reuse of land while addressing environmental concerns.
