Fire department responded to a torch light parade at Coe College on Monday night during the student council election campaign. The rally, led by about twenty cars with motorcycle police, ended after fire trucks arrived near Voorhees Hall. The primary narrowed candidates to Robert Norris and Ray Hibbing, with Merwin Woodward a close third.

The escapees Ernest Grigsby Frank Mears Ernest Powell and Wilbur Dawson were serving multi year terms and had bored holes in the boxcar bottom to escape.

The German pastor Niemoller who faced trial for defying the Nazi regime recounts his wartime role as a submarine commander and the horrors of war.
