Cedar Rapids man with heroin tied to overdoses stays jailed

Cedar Rapids man with 30 prior convictions pleads guilty to gun crimes
Kendall Fonville aged 22 pleaded guilty in federal court to one count of possession of a firearm by an unlawful user of drugs and one count of possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number. He admitted possessing a Bersa Thunder .380 in March 2012 and knowing the serial number was obliterated. Fonville remains in custody since his October arrest. he has 30 prior convictions including 11 for assault and faces up to 15 years. Sentencing is pending.

Three Arrested in I C Hotel Burglary
Iowa City police report three residents Ashley N. Scharf Rashad L. Lee and Dwaine A. Toran broke into the Sheraton Inn on Sept 13. They entered an office stole a room key and four guest rooms taking at least $4 000 in property. Lee was seen leaving with a red backpack reported stolen. All face third degree burglary charges.
