Iowa approves to certify organic foods under new standards
Iowa was chosen by the U S Department of Agriculture along with nine other states to certify organic foods. Iowa Agriculture Secretary Patty Judge said the state will certify operations to meet National Organic Program standards. The program requires certification of farms and handling facilities by state or private agencies. Other states include Idaho Maryland Montana New Hampshire New Mexico Texas Utah Virginia and Washington.

Iowa man charged with traveling to meet minor for sex
Nicholas F. Garcia, 41, of Davenport Iowa, was charged with interstate travel sexual abuse of a minor after traveling to Chicago to meet a supposed 14 year old online. The girl was real an undercover officer from Cook County Sheriff’s Child Exploitation Unit. He was arrested by FBI agents and local police and held at the Metropolitan Correctional Center pending bond.
