Conditions ripe for biggest farm rail bottleneck yet
Agriculture Secretary Dan Glickman warned before the Senate Agriculture Committee that huge grain stocks and forecasts of a bumper harvest could trigger another railroad bottleneck. He said rail car shortages are a chronic problem during bumper crops and could disrupt exports and farm income, recalling last year's snarls in the Union Pacific system across Texas to the Midwest.
