Iowa Senate approves broad tax relief power
The Iowa Senate passed a tax measure by 42 to 4 granting the tax commission power to force local assessors to reassess for statewide property value equalization. The Fulton-Walker amendment directs the commission to set per centages of actual valuation for millage decisions by Sept. 1, 1963 and every four years thereafter. The bill allows the commission to order revaluations and can face district court review after hearings.
