Curb on Government Mailing Prompts Debate in Congress
A bill in Congress seeks to curb government information mailings by restricting executive department circulars to written requests. Supporters call it a New Deal propaganda curb, while opponents warn of hampering public notices. Estimated savings tops $80 million annually, though figures are debated. Agencies may still mail bulletins to libraries and educational institutions.
