Opposition grows as plant permits await DNR decision
Interwest Power & Light faces a mixed board vote with one member opposing the project while another supports it citing environmental benefits. Environmental groups and NASA climate scientist Hansen oppose the project, urging the Iowa DNR to deny permits. The plant would bring about 85 permanent and 1,400 construction jobs, with utilities including Alliant and several co-ops using output.
