Capitol Visitor Center set to open in spring 2006
Washington AP reports the Capitol is fast tracking a new three story underground visitor center, expanding from an initial 265 million estimate to 421 million. The project, delayed by weather security changes and post September 11 enhancements, will host a great hall, a large exhibition gallery, dining area for 600, orientation theaters, gift shops and extensive restrooms with about 300 to 350 workers on site daily.
