Cedar Rapids Sidewalk Plan Faces 13 New Objections
The Cedar Rapids city council received 13 additional letters opposing the proposed sidewalk reconstruction, which faces a public hearing next Wednesday. The $106 714 project would cost about 96 000 in property assessments and cover about 15 000 linear feet of sidewalk on both sides of the Cedar River. Some deletions have been made and sections in the Oak Hill area may be dropped. The planning department considers delaying some sidewalks by two to four years, potentially funding the delay under Oak Hill federal rehabilitation funds, with final deletions subject to city council approval. Neighbors voicing complaints include Walter D. Murray Marie Fleagle Gracie Thompson Milo and Wilma Novy Gilbert Lorence Fred Severn Charles Votroubek Josephine Oustin Mary F. Myers Jerry V Hruby Lillian E Bell Donald R Buss Frank and Agnes Gardner.
