Firefighters test high rise response in Cedar Rapids training
Cedar Rapids firefighters practiced high rise rescue at the Roosevelt 12 story complex. A 100 foot ladder reached to the sixth floor with refugee areas and sprinkler aided safety. Officials said the exercise will sharpen response for about 60 local high rise structures.

The charges relate to events between December and February. Bond set at 50000 cash. He is father of Lyric Cook who vanished and was found dead with Elizabeth Collins.

Chase ends in car collision with Cedar Rapids home
Cedar Rapids police investigate a Saturday crash after a car tied to Clifton Sparks struck a house porch in the 300 block of 15th Street SE. Sparks fled a traffic stop, leading to a three block chase before a Cedar Rapids city bus struck his vehicle. Sparks was captured. he faces traffic and narcotics charges. Two people, Sparks and a bus rider, were hospitalized with non life threatening injuries. No house occupants were hurt.
