Washington school board finalizes budget cuts total
Washington Iowa officials report the district will cut 657 328 dollars from the budget after unanimous votes on remaining reductions. Surviving cuts include reclassifying a assistant superintendent to curriculum director cutting four coaching positions removing an instrumental music instructor and adjusting employee insurance plans. Superintendent David Schmitt noted the tough issue and a consensus. Larry Sigel from the Iowa School Board Association advised on district finances amid low property valuations and higher tax rates.
