Emeritus licenses expand pro bono aid through Legal Aid
The Iowa Supreme Court allows retired and out of state lawyers to volunteer as emeritus attorneys with Iowa Legal Aid. Judges and staff note the move will help reduce massive caseloads that served thousands last year. Six emeritus volunteers currently aid Cedar Rapids and other offices, while law student practice rules also broaden access to legal help.
