Wildlife funding soars as gun sales drive conservation money
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will distribute nearly 1.1 billion to all states and territories for fish and wildlife projects. Iowa receives about 15.6 million this year with 11.4 million for wildlife and 4.2 million for fisheries, boosted by higher excise tax receipts from firearm and ammunition sales. Texas leads with 51.6 million, followed by Alaska and California.
