Sensitivity training aids disabled hires at Linn County program
Options of Linn County uses sensitivity training to explain disabilities to employers. Workers with disabilities were hired through the Linn County funded placement service and received support from Options staff. Cathy Halverson notes the approach worked well as new hires integrated with coworkers who became protective and welcoming. Lonnie Matthews recalls the program’s early impact. Options serves over 400 disabled individuals with varying needs, providing job placement training and follow up.
