Willard J Curley Walters 86 of Iowa City died suddenly on a Tuesday in Iowa City. Funeral services are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church with Friday visitation at Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service. Burial with military honors at Memory Gardens Cemetery. He was born January 24 1926 in rural Iowa County and served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He married Ruth Coulson June 19 1959 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. He worked at Amana Refrigeration and later Iowa Illinois Gas and Electric retiring in 1988. He was active at Our Redeemer and a member of the American Legion Riverside VFW and Eagles. He enjoyed fishing hunting and Hawkeyes. He is survived by wife Ruth and children Jerri Bruns Rick Walters Michael Walters Larry Nelson Theodore Nelson and others including 12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by daughter Virginia Bates and son-in-law William Bates. Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is handling arrangements. Memorials may go to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Michael Dennis Benedict of Anamosa died Monday March 26 2012 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Memorial services are set for 10 30 a m Friday March 30 at Viola Methodist Church with Jim May officiating. Burial will follow at Wilcox Cemetery in Viola. Visitation is today from 4 to 8 p m at Goettsch Funeral Home in Anamosa. He was born June 6 1951 in Monticello the son of Ernest and Fela Benedict. He married Cathy Behnke November 2 1973 in Anamosa. He worked for Energy Manufacturing in Monticello starting in 1973 and was a member of Viola Methodist Church for 14 years. He enjoyed music camping traveling and cooking and treasured time with family. He is survived by his wife Cathy, son Damien, two brothers Roger and Roy, and two grandchildren Trevor and Kathryn.
